Fishing season | Off Kilter

This morning, and on a half dozen other days, we saw several hundred small boats moored just offshore near our house. They were, obviously, fishing. The boats appeared to be everything from kayaks to boats perhaps about 40 feet in length. At low tide, there were even a dozen or so “waders,” who were surf-casting from the shallow water near shore.
I suspect the reason that most of the small boats stay well away from the deeper water near the middle of Puget Sound is that we have a large number of commercial boats and ferries who ply these waters. I’m certain that visibility, especially...
