Joe Marine and Mike Cashman entertain the audience during the preshow of the 51st annual Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club Luau Auction. The Sept. 26 event was held virtually for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club ventured into uncharted territory.

With the coronavirus pandemic eliminating any chance of a live, in-person event, the club switched gears and hosted its 51st annual luau and auction virtually for the first time Sept. 26.

The auction raised more than $60,000, but additional donations were still coming in.

"We got really great feedback," Mukilteo unit director Kim Gaffney said. "Overall, it went really well. For 50 years, it was done one way. This time the food was different. The entertainment was different. Having it be virtual was different."
