Last month, the City Council approved the use of an additional $150,000 of CARES Act funding for a second round of business grants. The application deadline is Thursday, Oct. 15. Information can be found at https://bit.ly/3747ix2.

To be eligible for the Mukilteo CARES for Business Grants, small businesses must have at least a 25% drop in revenue directly attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic, have 20 or fewer full-time employees, have a valid City of Mukilteo business license, been in operation since Aug.1, 2019 or earlier, be physically located in the City of Mukilteo, or be a for-profit or a non-profit with a federal 501(c)(3) standing. The city received 104 applications for a total request of $877,500. The city estimates approximately 20% of the eligible businesses in Mukilteo were able to apply.

The funds came from $300 million that was distributed last spring to cities and counties by the State of Washington, from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
