Mother walks to honor the memory of her daughter

Dawn Kirvanek is team captain of Team Nina, a group participating in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's annual Out of the Darkness Walk on Sept. 12.
For Dawn Krivanek, this month marks the fifth anniversary of the loss of her middle daughter, Nina, to suicide.

Since losing Nina, Krivanek joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to fundraise and share her story.
"I feel strongly that we can save lives by having real conversations about mental health and destigmatizing mental health," Krivanek said.
