School year will not start in the classroom

Distance learning set to begin in fall

The Mukilteo School District had hoped to start the school year with some form of face-to-face instruction for most of its students.

But in light of concerns about the continuing high numbers of COVID-19 cases in the county, which resulted in a recommendation from the Snohomish Health District that schools not have in-person instruction, the district will start the fall with distance learning.

The decision likely will come as a relief to many parents, but also a major disappointment to others.
