Letter to the editor: Neither Trump nor Biden earns support from lifelong Republican

My twin brother and I turned 80 recently and following in our father’s footsteps, we’ve consistently voted Republican. The exception for me was 1964 when I felt Goldwater was too far right to be acceptable.

I voted for Trump in 2016 and I initially believed that his policies positively impacted our economy and toughened relationships with other countries. However, I am concerned about his lack of morals, bad judgment in foreign affairs and his hypocrisy, evident in his photo holding the Bible in front of a church, while protestors were being tear-gassed nearby.

Today I find it difficult to consider voting for Biden since he will have to adopt the far-left agenda, which would control his presidency.

Therefore, this 80-year old lifelong Republican has decided that neither candidate is qualified to lead our nation at this critical time. As a result, I’ve decided to take a ‘pass’ on the 2020 Presidential race and will focus on Congress and state and local elections. Hopefully, come 2024 both parties will submit acceptable alternatives. But, as Trump often does, I may change my mind and vote as conditions evolve in the next five months.

In the meantime, I plan to begin each day as I have for years with an ‘ATTITUDE of GRATITUDE” and encourage all to join me!

The 2020 Presidential results are already in – the Good Lord has decided the winner! We merely need to wait on his decision!
