Fireworks-related calls up from last year

The Mukilteo Police Department received about twice as many fireworks-related calls compared to last year.

Police responded to about 44 calls during the three-day, July 4 holiday weekend.

Nearly all of the public firework shows were canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the large volume of complaints, the Mukilteo Fire Department actually had a quiet weekend.

“It was actually a fairly slow weekend,” Fire Chief Chris Alexander said. “We had no fireworks-related calls than I’m aware of.”
