Summer is almost officially upon us, and with sweltering days ahead, many are looking forward to getting in the water this season. However, experts caution eager swimmers and boaters to know the risks before jumping in.

Washington waters can be deceptively appealing and dangerous at the same time all year round, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
