Residents on 53rd Avenue West between 88th and 92nd Streets SW have been coming out of their homes every night to salute those, who at great risk to themselves, are fighting the coronavirus pandemic on the frontlines. People have been clapping and cheering to honor the bravery of health care workers, EMTs, police officers, firefighters, and grocery and restaurant workers. For two minutes starting at 7 p.m., residents step out onto their porches or line the street to socialize from a distance and then go back into their homes.
