Postpone routine visits

The Washington State Department of Health said there is a worldwide shortage of the masks, gowns, and gloves that keep health care safe for health care providers.
They are also facing a crisis in which there may not be enough space in our hospitals, nor lifesaving equipment like ventilators available for people who need them, officials warned.
Postpone many routine medical visits
They are asking all health care facilities to cancel or postpone visits that can be postponed. This will help keep people home and help conserve masks, gowns, and gloves. Their advice includes:
• Please postpone your routine dental visits, adult annual exams, and routine screenings. If you are not sure whether your upcoming appointment can be postponed or perhaps done over the phone, call the clinic to check before you go.
If you are having a dental emergency (like you are in pain) please go to your regular dental clinic, not an emergency room.
• Don’t postpone well child checks. Keep taking the little ones in for their immunizations on time.
And remember to reschedule those important wellness visits when this crisis is over.
Stay home as much as possible
We all need to stay home as much as possible to protect people at high risk from getting sick, officials said. Because if too many of us get too sick, we may have more patients who desperately need ventilators than we have ventilators to go around.
They are working with their partners in the health care system to come up with a plan if they find themselves in this situation, but a lot of that plan is dependent on people staying home and keeping their neighbors safe.
Everyone is feeling a bit unsettled with these disruptions to normal life. Remember, even if you are isolated right now, you are not alone.

County executive issues order to protect grocery supply chain
Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers has issued an Executive Order that would help protect grocery supply chains and ensure that grocers are fully operational during the county’s response to COVID-19.
The order, which went in to effect March 13, reduces restrictions for trucks and store delivery hours that would prevent or delay delivery of groceries.
The order also suspends any county or city ordinance or regulations that restrict noise and/or traffic to and from Snohomish County grocers.
Gov. Jay Inslee this week held a live address from his office to announce a “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order requiring every Washingtonian to stay home unless they are engaged in an essential activity.
The order bans all gatherings for social, spiritual and recreational purposes and orders all businesses to close unless they are designated an essential business.
Boeing announced Monday that it is suspending production operations in the Puget Sound for 14 days beginning today due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Gov. Inslee said he applauds the decision to close while continuing to pay workers.
QFC senior hours
In order to help protect some of the community’s most vulnerable residents, beginning this week, QFC has launched senior hours from 7-8 a.m. every Monday-Thursday.
Lighthouse Park closed
Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson announced that Lighthouse Park is closed during the pandemic. She said the number of people still visiting the park had become “untenable.”
The Boys & Girls Club needs help
The Boys & Girls Club is reaching out for support. When schools announced their six-week shutdown, the club opened its doors for all daycare, knowing that many of the youth they serve needed a place to go while their families were working.
They are offering discounted childcare (free to first responders and healthcare workers) knowing that those who need them the most are those who can’t afford to lose the opportunity to work.
That has amplified their need for additional support. They need to increase food and cleaning supplies, among other things.

SnoPUD’s Community Support Plan to help those affected by COVID
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Snohomish County PUD has developed a COVID Community Support Plan to help customers struggling to pay their electric and water bills. The plan makes funds available for both residential and small business customers affected by the COVID outbreak.
“We know these are challenging times for some of our customers, and we want to ensure that we are helping support those that need help,” said John Haarlow, Snohomish PUD CEO/GM.
“We are all in this together, and as a provider of a critical service we play an important role, one which we take seriously.”
The PUD’s plan not only allows for residential customers who have suffered sudden job loss to get immediate help, but also small business owners who have experienced rapid loss of business as well.
Customers experiencing hardships due to the COVID outbreak can call the PUD’s Customer Service at 425-783-1000 to get help.
According to initial estimates, the PUD could see customer bill impacts up to $2 million. The PUD’s Customer Support Plan will be regularly evaluated by PUD leadership in order to best serve its customers.
The PUD’s Community Support Plan allows for:
Bill credit up to $200 for residential customers who are behind on their bill due to the COVID outbreak.
Bill credit up to $500 for small business customers who have had their operations limited or closed due to the COVID outbreak.
The new Community Support Plan is in addition to what the PUD has already done to help customers, including:
• Pause disconnections for non-payments
• Pause late fees
• Made Budget Payment Plan availability more flexible
• Increased retail energy efficiency measures and savings through the SnoPUD Marketplace
• Enhancements to the PUD’s Income Qualified Assistance Program and Discount Program
