J.D. Stollwerck thought he was going to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a teacher, but life took him in another direction after he graduated from Western Washington University.

Right after graduating with a degree in history, a friend told him to come work with him at a plumbing company while he was planning what was next.

He was a natural fit.

"I picked it up very fast," Stollwerck said. "I've always built things since I could swing a hammer at 5 years old."

He began in commercial plumbing, and was fascinated with designing and building systems that fit the customers' needs....
