The stir over "affordable housing" prods me to ask, "Is there a housing crisis in Mukilteo threatening the general welfare of residents?" Why, then, is it even on the agenda of City Council?

We are - or, at least, we once were - a peoples' republic (politically) in a free enterprise system (economically).

When allowed to do so, the marketplace responds to the material needs of society. Government handles security needs - foreign and domestic.

These are the cornerstones on which our great nation has prospered. Am omitting the spiritual cornerstone so as not to offend.
