Lois was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Edgewater to Goldie and Thomas Geyer. Lois was the youngest of the Geyer children.
At a very young age, Lois made friends with the children of immigrant Japanese millworkers who lived in the mill camp at what is now known as Japanese Gulch.
Lois walked to school every day to attend Rosehill Elementary School, and when the time came, she took the ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island for high school.
Lois met the love of her life, Clifford Hudspeth, while he was stationed at Paine Field. But not long after their marriage, Cliff shipped out to the war in Europe.
While Cliff was overseas, Lois worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" for the Boeing Airplane Company. With the money that she had saved, Lois bought a building lot with a chicken coop on it at the corner of 3rd and Prospect streets in Mukilteo.
Upon Cliff's return the lot was cleared and a basement hand-excavated. While Cliff built the family home, Lois surrounded their home with beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, always sharing her flowers and garden crop with friends and neighbors.
In 1946, Dennis, the oldest of their three children, arrived, and soon was followed by Loye Anne and Joy Lynne.
Lois is survived by her daughter Loye, husband Jerry and their children and grandchildren; Dennis, wife Nancy and their children and grandchild; Greg Griffith and grandson Jason.
She passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020.
Private family graveside services were held Monday, Feb 17th.
Truly a long life, well lived.
