Native Mukiltean hits century mark

Editor's note: Beverly Ellis is celebrating her 100th birthday on Sunday. In her honor, we're republishing an article written by former editor Rebecca Carr that marked Beverly's 90th. It's a fun read.
Never mind iPods, Blackberrys and Kindles; Beverly Ellis didn't even have electricity in 1925 Mukilteo.
"My earliest memory is of our mother reading to us by (kerosene) lamplight," she said. "She would sit in her rocker and read to us every night before bed."
That cold floor when heading to the bathroom at night is a lot easier to tolerate than crossing the lawn to the outhouse in the dead...
