Legislation ranges from increased minimum wage to updated car seats rules

Six important laws will be going into effect on Jan. 1, 2020. The legislation covers minimum wage, family leave, tobacco, car seats, new road rules, and surprise medical bills.
Each of the measures were signed into law by Gov. Jay Inslee over the course of various legislative sessions in past years.
Minimum wage increase:
Beginning Jan. 1, the minimum wage in Washington state increased from $12 to $13.50 an hour. In 2016, Washington voters approved Initiative 1433, which required the statewide minimum wage in 2017 to raise from $11 to $11.50 in 2018, to $12 in 2019, and to $13.50 ...
