Arceo finishes 15th in girls race, drops time compared to last year

Kamiak's state cross country team members included Mason Hammons, alternate Madeline Graves, Jarod Kaku, Emma Arceo, Jaedyn Chase, Carp Mukai, alternate Cobi Stancik, Andrew Stupey, Kyle Yu, Jason Blinn and Jackson Hammons.

Kamiak wrapped up the 2019 season with strong runs at the 4A state cross country championships.

Sophomore standout Emma Arceo dropped more than 10 seconds from last year, finishing in 15th place with a time of 18 minutes, 44.70 seconds, Saturday, Nov. 9, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Arceo placed seventh in 18:55.40 at last year's state meet.

"She was excited to be there in the top 15 on the podium," Kamiak coach Charley LeWarne said. "She made the all-state list. ... When you're 15th in state, you ran a fantastic race."
