Kamiak's Straume wins 100, 200 freestyles at district meet | Swimming

Kamiak senior Elli Straume won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles at the Northwest District 4A swimming and diving championships.
Straume, who finished second in the 200 freestyle at last year’s state meet, finished in 1 minute, 54.16 seconds. She clocked in at 52.52 in the 100 freestyle.
Kamiak’s 200 and 400 freestyle relay team of Straume, Grace Hatscher, Jacquelynn Person and Sophia Ryu both finished second and earned berths to state. Ryu also placed second in the 100 breaststroke.
Jackson won the team title, scoring 525.5 points, ahead of Kamiak (400) and Lake Stevens (372).
