Vapor devices are hard to recognize

Vaping devices, or e-cigarettes, take on many shapes and sizes, some looking like USB flash drives, making the devices difficult for the untrained eye to spot.

Jennifer Reid from the Snohomish Health District (SHD) educated parents at Kamiak High School about the dangers of vaping and the importance of recognizing a vapor device at a PTO meeting Nov. 6.

Reid is a healthy communities specialist with goals to spread awareness about the power of nicotine in the lives of teenagers. According to the 2018 Healthy Youth Survey in Snohomish County, 11 percent of eighth graders, 23 percent of 10th graders, and 30 percent of 12th graders reported regularly using vapor devices.
