Kamiak heads into district playoffs with momentum after beating Monroe, Mariner

Kamiak appears to be peaking at the right time.

The Knights posted back-to-back victories for the first time in three weeks.

Kamiak edged Monroe 1-0 and then defeated Mariner 3-1 in Wesco 4A girls soccer action.

Last week's two victories snapped a string of five contests that included ties with Cascade and Mount Vernon and losses to Jackson, Glacier Peak and Lake Stevens.

Senior Makila Wiley attributes the success to a group meeting involving all of the players where the main question raised was what the players could do to improve the team.

"We made it open to all grades," Wiley said....
