Marauder boys starting off year with faster times | Cross country

Led by sophomore Dominic Cruz-Estrada, the Mariner boys cross country team has started the season strong.

Cruz-Estrada finished fifth with one of the fastest times of his career – 17 minutes, 39.03 seconds – in a Wesco meet against Stanwood, Everett, Glacier Peak and Mount Vernon Thursday, Sept. 26, at Skagit Valley College.

Mariner coach Dave McFadden said he thought that Cruz-Estrada might have gone out a little too conservative to start out the race. The Mariner sophomore was in 10th place at the one-mile mark.
