Mariner loses to Arlington in football season opener

Younger Marauders gain some valuable playing time

The Mariner football team couldn't overcome its inexperience.

Arlington scored three second-half touchdowns to pull away from the Marauders and claim a 35-7 victory in a nonconference game Friday, Sept. 6, at Arlington High School.

"It really kind of came down to nerves," Mariner coach Mark Stewart said. "It was a typical first game. There were a lot of things we can learn from. We were missing some players, who will be eligible next week. That will help us get some more experience out on the field."
