Votes are in; remove your signs

The primary election is over. Votes are in.

It would sure be nice if campaign signs littering our streets would be out.

Zieve temporarily pulling signs

There was a request on Next Door that primary signs not be left out until Nov. 5.

In response, I have pulled all of my signs from public right of ways and stored them at my house. I will put them out again early in October.

Unhappy with Waste Management

I noticed two trucks from Mukilteo this morning. They were beginning to trim trees back away from the alley.

Why you ask? Because Waste Management says they want them trimmed so they can get their big trucks through the alleys without scratching them! I guess they haven't thought about those smaller trucks (like Rubatino has).

The Mukilteo crew was polite, even though I was not happy. I am willing to have the fir trimmed lightly, but that doesn't seem to be what is planned.

Any of you who have trees over an alley had best determine how much you will allow them to be cut back, before the crews arrive unannounced.

I asked them not to trim my giant fir until I have talked to their supervisor. First off, if they are going to trim my tree, then I would like the City to cover the half cost (I'll pay half) of an arborist to trim it back properly. Second off, how does Waste Management dictate what the City does? Has it come to that already?

Big trucks have been coming up this alley for the 30-plus years that I have been here. Yes, they go slowly, but no one has ever asked me to trip my fir tree. Suddenly Waste Management says "jump" and the City says "how high?"

This doesn't bode well for my relationship with Waste Management.
