Mariner’s Wanjiru, Kamiak’s Warner capture district track and field crowns

Mariner and Kamiak each walked away with an individual title at the 4A Northwest District 1 boys track and field championships.
Mariner sophomore Sebastian Wanjiru finished first in the 100-meter dash Friday, May 17, at Shoreline Stadium. Wanjiru clocked in with a time of 11.45 seconds, .05 seconds faster than Cascade’s Maxwell Nelson.
The top two finishers advance to this week’s state championships.
Wanjiru, who also placed third in the 200, set a personal record in the preliminary heat with a time of 11.24.
