Look for Kamiak’s Tracey Hatch to be among the contenders in the sprints at this week’s Wesco 4A track and field championships.

The senior standout currently has the league’s second fastest time in the girls 200-meter race behind Monroe’s Hannah Ganashamoorthy. Hatch has clocked in with the fourth fastest time in the 400 and the fifth in the 100.

Kamiak senior Alicia Anderson has run the third fastest 3,200 and is ranked No. 4 in the 1,600. The league leader in both events is two-time state champion Taylor Roe. Kamiak freshman Emma Arceo is right behind her teammate with the fifth fastest times in the 1,600 and 3,200. Teammate Leah Clark is No. 7 in the 3,200 and No. 9 in the 1,600.

The Knights’ 1,600-meter relay team of Anderson, Arceo, Isabela Ceniceros and Hatch is ranked No. 2 behind Lake Stevens.

Senior Tara Koonce has the second longest throw by a mere inch to Lake Stevens’ Faith Ayodeji, who unleashed a personal best throw of 37 feet, 11.5 inches in late March. Koonce also is No. 4 in the discus.

Sophomore Isabelle Leonard and junior Ava Manning have the second and fourth best marks in the high jump. Manning also is fourth in the triple jump.

Mariner senior Corzette Dampac has the third best mark in the pole vault.

The Knights head into the boys meet with the top mark in two field events. Freshman Nathan Warner is tied for first in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) with five others and senior Michael Springer has the longest throw in the discus.

Sophomore Carp Mukai is ranked No. 4 in the 1,600, No. 4 in the 800 and No. 6 in the 3,200.

Mariner’s Sebastian Wanjiru comes in with the third fastest time in the 200 and fourth in the 100. Teammate Thanh Nguyen has the third longest long jump.

The Marauders’ 400 relay of Donnavan Hudson, Edwin Bouah, Harrison Hayden and Wanjiru has the third fastest time, while the 1,600 relay squad of Dominic Cruz-Estrada, Vitaliy Krutiy, James Smith, and Roman Bondarenko is fourth in the league.

The Wesco 4A track and field championships are scheduled for 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8 and Friday, May 10, at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.
