Kamiak fell behind 15-3 against Inglemoor and was unable to overcome the deficit in a 67-56 defeat in a loser-out Wes-King 4A District boys basketball tournament game Thursday, Feb. 14, at Bothell High School. Junior Charlie Powers scored a team-high 27 points for the Knights, who finished the season 9-12 overall.
“In the second half, we came out and started hitting shots and running our offense really well,” Kamiak coach Brandon Corsi said. “They were just matching it. They just shot the ball really well.”
The Vikings had seven different players hit 3-point shots. The Knights cut the deficit to 9 points midway through the final period.
“The kids played a pretty good game against Inglemoor,” Corsi said. “Inglemoor was better on that day.”
Kamiak graduates three seniors, including starters Dakota Bueing, Ryker Wuttke and reserve Whistler Pascual. The Knights came into the season with a totally revamped starting lineup.
“I think we achieved what we were looking to do, considering the amount of turnover we had in the program,” Corsi said.
