First-year coach wants Mariner to be battle-tested | Wrestling

Mariner won’t shy away from tough competition.

At the 33-team Edmonds Invitational, the Marauders weren’t able to bring a full lineup, but they still placed 17th overall, finishing ahead of some schools that brought their entire teams.

“We just work hard on the mat,” first-year coach Matthew Beck said. “It shows on the mat.”

Both of Mariner’s top two finishers – Joey Adee and R.J. Fry – were wrestling up a weight class.
