Take heart fellows, here come the gals to rescue us!

Hello friends! Recently, I have not husbanded my time wisely. I have been the fool, and folded like a bad poker hand:
I have not delivered a proper new column. Forgive me please, mes amis; my bad. Unproud of myself. I am stumblor, yes, but the silver lining for me is that today, right now, women are exploding into power like never before; what a perfect opportunity for me to repeat my 1996 missive where I quote God's speaking to us about the planet-saving ladies!
"Only through the affirmation of women's equal worth will we achieve the perfect balance of God's creation and become at last fully human - gentle as well as strong, protective as well as constructive, merciful as well as just."
When Jesus booted the moneychangers out of the temple, He was not well received. Nor was the local populace delighted with His abrogation of the prevailing spiritual laws pertaining to divorce and to observance of the Sabbath. But these were changes whose times had come.
When it comes to "changing things around" there is nothing else quite like the advent of a Manifestation of God.
With the recent advent of Christ's promised Return in the person of Bahá'u'lláh, the Manifestation of God for this era, some "changing things around" is again the order of the day.
Bahá'u'lláh has revealed that it is time now for women to enjoy equal rights with men.
Bahá'u'lláh’s concept of equality does not imply that men and women should have identical roles and functions; rather it means that men and women have equal status, equal consideration, equal rights and equal opportunities to contribute to society.
From the Bahá'í Writings: "The world in the past has been ruled by force, and man has dominated over woman by reason of his more forceful and aggressive qualities both of body and mind. But the balance is already shifting; force is losing its dominance, and mental alertness, intuition, and the spiritual qualities of love and service, in which woman is strong, are gaining ascendance.
Hence the new age will be an age less masculine, and more permeated with the feminine ideals - or, to speak more exactly, will be an age in which the masculine and feminine elements of civilization will be more evenly balanced."
For most people today, it is a foregone conclusion that equal rights for women is a worthy goal, but in the mid-1800s in Persia (now Iran) this announcement was paralyzing. The prevailing doctrine was that women were to be behind the veil.
The concept that it was time for women to come out from behind the veil and participate as man's equal in the affairs of mankind put the literalist fundamentalist majority into spin cycle.
At a large gathering in 1848, an amazing woman named Tá'hirih responded to Bahá'u'lláh’s divine Call and appeared without her veil, proclaiming: "This day is... the day on which the fetters of the past are burst asunder."
Much consternation ensued. Four years later, she was executed for having recognized God's most recent Revelation. In her last moments she said, "You can kill me as soon as you like, but you can not stop the emancipation of women."
Sections from the Bahá'í Writings: "...men and women alike are equal in the sight of God and there is no distinction to be made between them. The only difference between them now is due to lack of education and training. If woman is given equal opportunity of education, (the prevailing) estimate of inferiority will disappear. The world of humanity has two wings as it were, one is the female, the other is the male. If one wing is defective, the strong wing will not be capable of flight. The world of humanity has two hands. If one be imperfect, the capable hand is restricted and unable to perform its duties."
"He has created (man and woman) equal... the one whose heart is purest, whose deeds are most perfect, is acceptable to God, male or female."
"Often in history women have been the pride of humanity; for example, Mary the mother of Jesus, She was the glory of mankind. Mary Magdalene... Sarah wife of Abraham and innumerable others have glorified the human race by their excellences..."
God's Will: if a family has a son and a daughter but can afford to educate only one of them, you must educate the girl.
"...The education of women is more necessary and important than that of men, for the woman is the trainer of the child from infancy."
"The first teachers of children are the mothers. Therefore, they must be capably trained in order to educate both sons and daughters."
"Daughters and sons must follow the same curriculum of study, thereby promoting unity of the sexes. When all mankind shall receive the same opportunity of education and the equality of men and women be realized, the foundations of war will be utterly destroyed."
"Consider, for instance, a mother who has tenderly reared a son for 20 years to the age of maturity. Surely she will not consent to having that son torn asunder and killed in the field of battle. Therefore, as woman advances toward the degree of man in power and privilege, with the right of vote and control in human government, most assuredly war will cease; for woman is naturally the most devoted and staunch advocate of international peace."
When we finally appropriately acknowledge the magnificent station of women in our society, we will finally stand at the threshold of literal peace on earth.
In closing, from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh:
"Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created. Since We have created you all from one substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul..."
