Knights place second at districts | Girls swimming

Kamiak’s Elli Straume and Ava Collinge each won two individual events at the 4A District girls swimming and diving championships.

Straume claimed the 200- and 500-yard freestyles, while Collinge captured the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley. The two also were members of the Knights’ winning 200 freestyle relay squad with Song-Nhi Vo and Grace Hatscher.

Kamiak’s 200 medley relay team of Vo, Sophia Ryu, Collinge and Straume finished second. Jackson edged Kamiak to take the team title. The Timberwolves finished with 450 points, just ahead of the Knights, who had 447.

The 4A state championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
