MOU signing delayed

Two weeks ago, former Mukilteo Mayor Emory Cole wrote a Guest View column for the Mukilteo Beacon regarding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the South Whidbey Port District (SWPD), Port of Everett, and the Tulalip Tribes to allow SWPD to lease two acres of Tribal land on the Mukilteo Tank Farm site for a commuter parking lot (“Keep waterfront land in Mukilteo’s hands,” Guest View, Oct. 24, 2018).
The MOU was on the Port of Everett’s agenda for their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 23, which fell on a Mukilteo Beacon production day.
The Beacon reached out to the various agencies for an update on the MOU, and according to Lisa Lefeber of the Port of Everett, it was not signed.
“We postponed the approval to work further with the city of Mukilteo,” she said.
More information on this will be reported as it becomes available.
