Susie Crosby, a Mukilteo resident, has released her book, “Just One Word: 90 Devotions to Invite Jesus In,” with the goal of helping Christians who don’t have much time in their busy schedule.
Her book is aimed towards readers who are finding less time to spend reading anything for pleasure, much less dive deep into Scripture and spiritual texts.
“A few years ago, God surprised me with a new way to experience His Word,” Crosby, who is also a teacher blogger, said. “I was listening to a song about His wild love for me, and I couldn’t stop thinking about what that meant. I looked up the definition of wild, ‘passionately eager or enthusiastic; going beyond normal bounds,’ and it was so refreshing and fun to think about Him loving me that way!”
That’s when her one-word approach to Bible study was born.
In “Just One Word,”Crosby offers short devotions focused on one word to help readers set their minds on the never-ending power of God’s work in their life.
In this book, she draws out one unexpected word from a daily Scripture verse - words like “steep,” “roomy,” and “multiply.” As she explores each theme, she shows readers a mighty God who shows up.
“These words God gives to us truth and hope we read and hear and sing they are not just letters on paper,” Crosby said. “His words live and move inside of us: creating, growing, healing, forgiving, and renewing us. As we get to know Him through His words, we discover the real and meaningful ways that He works in our lives.”
