Amazing Race returning to Mukilteo this July

Last updated 6/20/2018 at Noon

Sherri Bear and Erin Langdon stop and pose during the 2017 Amazing Race Mukilteo. The event returns to Mukilteo this July.

Feeling competitive? Think you know Mukilteo? Recruit a friend or family member and compete in the third annual Amazing Race Mukilteo, being held Saturday, July 14.

Teams of two will receive clues to find six locations throughout Mukilteo. At each location, the competing teams will complete a challenge to receive the clue to the next location with a maximum of three hours to complete the game.

Challenges and locations are kept secret ahead of the game, increasing the fun and challenge. Past challenges have included a member of the Mukilteo Historical Society telling a story about Mukilteo’s history, then competitors having to go around the lighthouse grounds and answering questions. If any of the questions were incorrect, the answers were given back, and the competitor had to figure out which ones were correct, and which were wrong.

Other challenges included eating haggis and completing Scottish trivia at the Scotsman Bistro; figuring out if books were teen, adult, fiction or non and shelving them correctly (either alphabetically or by dewy decimal system); bubble soccer at Bella Terra; a scavenger hunt in the Japanese Gulch; and changing a tire and getting to the top of the climbing wall at TRAXX Racing. This year’s event features six new challenges.

Past winning teams include the Pika-Muk’s: Mayor Gregerson and sister Anne Gregerson (2016) and The Real Housewives of Mukilteo #mothermukinmoms: Angel Miller and Kristin Boudon. Will you be this year’s Amazing Race Mukilteo champion?

The event begins at 9 a.m. on July 14 at Kamiak High School. All teams must be back to the ending point of Immortals Fitness by noon, where Garlic Jim’s will provide pizza and Diamond Knot will provide beer (root beer for those under 21) while awaiting awards to be given out.

Awards include top three finishers (finished in least amount of time after adding bonus time and subtracting penalties), best team name, best costume, and furthest traveled to participate.

Choose your teammate, pick a team name, get your costume ready and register today.

Cost is $50 per team until July 1. Price increases July 2 to $60. Competitors must be at least 16 years old.
