Kamiak hires new head football coach

Kamiak High School has found its new head football coach.

Bryant Thomas, who had been at the helm of the Auburn Riverside program since 2013, has been hired to succeed Dan Mack, who retired after 20 years as the Knights head coach.

Thomas led the Ravens to a first place tie in the 4A North Puget Sound League last year with a 6-1 league record, 8-2 overall. He leaves Auburn Riverside as the school’s all-time winningest coach and guided the team to three playoff appearances. Thomas led the Ravens to three of the school’s five winning seasons. He was named the SPSL Coach of the Year in 2013.

Prior to taking over at Auburn-Riverside, Thomas was the defensive coordinator/secondary, offensive coordinator/quarterback coach at Federal Way High School from 2007-2013. He also was the wide receiver coach/cornerbacks at Idaho State University from 2001-2007. Thomas was a Minority Internship Assistant Coach with the Seattle Seahawks in 2005 and a graduate assistant coach at Washington State from 1998-2000.

Thomas, who played football at Washington State from 1993-1997, will teach social studies at Kamiak High School.
