Mindful Self-Compassion classes coming

Last updated 3/14/2018 at Noon

Paul Kramer and his wife, Kim, are leading Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), an empirically supported, eight-week, training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion.

Based on the research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding.

The three key components of self-compassion are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness.

Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, less anxiety, depression and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships.

The classes take place on Tuesdays between April 3 and May 8 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. at the Rosehill Community Center (304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo). There will also be a half-day retreat on Sunday, April 29 from 1 to 5 p.m.
