Reformed and Reforming: Celebrating the Past, the Present and the Future

October 25, 2017

Celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation: the Past, the Present, and the Future (1517-2017).

With reSound, a Northwest Chamber Ensemble, director Stephen Marshall-Ward, Skyros Quartet, composer Michael Austin Miller and trumpeter Kyle Erickson, featuring special musical guests, tenor Steve Thoreson and sound healer Andrew Marshall.

Reformation Sunday will take place on October 29 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Michael Austin Miller and Stephen Marshall-Ward will host a free pre-concert lecture “Meet the Composers” from 6:15 – 6:45 p.m.

From the director:

World Premiere of “From Death to New Life – A Requiem Mass for the Church”

“Controlling people and how they are expected to live is something the Church has continued to do and is still attempting to do today. What is interesting in our time is that the people, the masses, have been rejecting the church’s self-appointed role in growing numbers. These people are saying, ‘enough is enough and we just don’t need that.’

For this and other reasons, the church as we know it is dying.

Years ago, this death was something we all saw coming — a slow death many warned us was imminent. But now it's really happening. In many cases, it is barely on life support.

Because of this, we have decided to write a Requiem Mass for the Church.”

The event is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted.
