A 10-year-old Everett boy suffered fatal injuries Thursday when a wrought iron gate apparently fell on him.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan, the Mukilteo Fire Department, along with units from Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded at 4:25 p.m. to a reported child head injury in a parking lot at the Sulamita Slavic Church, 12420 Evergreen Dr., Mukilteo.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the boy on the ground parking lot with a passerby performing CPR.

The passerby told firefighters he had moved a wrought iron gate off of the child and started CPR. Fire crews immediately continued CPR and moved the patient into the back of the paramedic unit.

Several moments later, the paramedics declared the child deceased at the scene, McMahan said.

“This was a tragic accident for all involved,” he said. “The 10-year-old boy resided in the Everett area.”

Mukilteo Police Department are investigating and taking witness statements to find out the details of what took place in this accident.
