A Seattle photographer’s black-and-white portraits from the past three decades will be on display beginning Monday, Sept. 18, at Everett Community College’s Russell Day Gallery.

Rick Carroll, whose studio is in Ballard, has photographed people since the mid-1970s. The show, which runs through Oct. 19, includes work from five photographic series.

“For me, black-and-white photography provides clarity and a means to reveal the emotion of the subject,” Carroll said.

Meet the artist during a public reception 6-8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the gallery.
