Letter: Yoo right to say Paine flights may help fund streets

Mr. Yoo’s response to the “5-week Q/A series” question on a proposed 0.1-percent sales tax to help pay for transportation infrastructure was spot on (“Council candidates offer takes on transportation tax,” July 5).

Like it or not, commercial travel at Paine Field is our new reality. Mr. Yoo’s proposal of turning lemons into lemonade by leveraging Mukilteo’s proximity to the airport as a potential revenue source for our city’s infrastructure needs is the kind of thinking we need on City Council.

I have lived in Mukilteo for several years and cherish its growing diversity. Many of you may not know that 17 percent of our fellow neighbors – people who call Mukilteo home – are of Asian heritage.

Mukilteo will benefit greatly from Mr. Yoo’s leadership as our City Council Position 1 representative.
