Alfred James Ackley: 1926-2016

Alfred James Ackley was born in 1926 in Yakima, Washington, to Stanley and Caroline Ackley. He passed peacefully on Nov. 5, 2016, with his family at his side.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, an auto mechanic and a dedicated member of his church. Al enjoyed fishing, camping, golf, traveling and gardening.

Family and friends were Al’s true love and joy. He leaves behind Elva, his wife of 67 years; sister Margret, brother Sherman and sister-in-law Doris; daughters Denice and Terry; son Tom; son-in-law Don; daughter-in-law Billie Jo; grandchildren Jessica, Trevor, Amber and Norman; grandson-in-law Jay; and great-grandson Henry.

He was preceded by his parents, sister Doris and brother Charles. Al’s internment will take place 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.

A celebration of life service will be held 1p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at First Baptist Church, 22800 56th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace.
