Edward Jones hosts school supplies drive | School brief

Last updated 8/3/2016 at Noon

A school supplies drive for students in need is on now at a local Edward Jones office.

Edward Jones financial adviser Doug Miller is holding the donation drive through Sept. 16 at his Mukilteo office.

The drive benefits students at Mukilteo elementary schools with a shortage of supplies for the 2016-17 school year.

“Every year, kids get a list of the things they need to bring to class because there’s a huge shortage,” Miller said. “It’s extremely expensive when the parents have to go shopping for them. Not all of them can afford it.”

The Edward Jones office also holds a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots around the holiday season. This is the office’s second school supplies drive.

“This is another way for us to contribute back to the community,” said Miller, whose children attend Mukilteo schools.

Want to help? Students need backpacks, three-ring binders (2 inch), pencil pouches or boxes, crayons, colored pencils, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, gallon Ziplock bags, tissues and hand sanitizer.

Drop off donations at 10924 Mukilteo Speedway Ste. F between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
