New member appointed to Planning Commission | City brief

January 7, 2015

The City Council on Jan. 5 confirmed a new member to the city’s Planning Commission.

Nick Gottuso was appointed to serve a term set to expire in 2016. He is replacing Cindy Zynda, who resigned.

Gottuso is a senior program manager at Microsoft. He has lived in Mukilteo for over 10 years.

He previously served on the Planning Commission from 2009-2013, as well as the Salary Advisory Committee (2008), and is a board member of the YMCA of Snohomish County.

Gottuso wrote in his application that he sought appointment because he enjoys “being a part of the great team of volunteers and electeds we have in this moment in time to move Mukilteo forward, while maintaining its character and quality.”

He joins commissioners Jerry Bush, Melanie Field, Arnie Hammerman, Dennis Konopinski, Nicole Thomsen and Norman Webb.

The Planning Commission, which has seven members, reviews the city’s Comprehensive Plan and makes recommendations to the mayor and council. It also researches land use and other related issues upon request. Members serve six-year terms.

Every new term, members of the commission are appointed by the mayor and subject to council confirmation.
