Learn about diabetes prevention

10:30 a.m. November is National Diabetes Month. Harbour Pointe Retirement in Mukilteo welcomes speaker Jody Byrne, diabetes coordinator for the Everett Clinic. Attendees will learn who is at risk for this disease, diabetes prevention tips and 10 important food considerations for diabetics. A food sampling is included in this free seminar. Soroptimist International meeting

Noon. International & Goodwill Program for Soroptimist International of Everett hosts its November program meeting. The International Goodwill and Understanding Committee will share a TED talk by Brene Brown, followed by a discussion. Brown studies human connections – our ability to empathize, belong and love. EvCC college baseball seminar

6-8 p.m. The Everett Community College Trojan Baseball Club will present its second seminar on "Recruiting the Four Year School of Your Dreams" and "Things to Know if You Might One Day Want to Play Pro Ball” for high school and middle school players. Historical Society meeting

7:15-8:45 p.m. This Mukilteo Historical Society meeting features a presentation by Lisa Romo titled “Year in Review and Volunteer Appreciation.” Romo is the President of the Mukilteo Historical Society. Sew Thoughtful

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Help the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors (CTA) to sew hospice pillows. These butterfly-shaped pillows help give comfort to patients during their time of illness. Meet ‘Fallen Heroes Project’ Artist

1:30 p.m. Harbour Pointe Retirement is hosting Michael Reagan, an internationally recognized portrait artist who created the “Fallen Heroes Project” honoring service men and women who have paid the ultimate price while fighting the War Against Terrorism. When families send him a photo, he draws a portrait free of charge as a keepsake for the fallen soldier’s family. Harbour Pointe Retirement, 10200 Harbour Pl., Mukilteo. Father Daughter Dance

7-9 p.m. Girl Scout Troop 42048 will host a Father Daughter Dance with a theme based off of “Teen Beach Movie” by Disney. It is a costume party. Win a prize for best dressed biker and surfer. Dance also features a raffle, snacks and a patch designed by one of the girls. All are welcome. Cost is $10 per person. Providence Hospice & Home Care of Snohomish County is seeking volunteer barbers to serve patients in the following areas: Marysville, Arlington, Monroe, and Everett. Help patients retain their self esteem and dignity by providing them with haircuts. Must have a valid Washington state barbering license. One 4-hour orientation session is required. Lighted Boat Parade

4:15 p.m. Lighted boats from area yacht clubs will parade from the Port of Everett to Mukilteo and back. The parade will be lead by Mukilteo Yacht Club Past Commodore Bruce Fabert aboard “About Time.” View the parade from many shoreside locations along the route, including Mukilteo Boulevard and Lighthouse Park, with planned arrival off Mukilteo about 5:15 p.m. Weather permitting.
