Meanwhile, unskilled practitioners are regarded with favor

August 29, 2012

A dear friend was kind enough to read my previous article. He then dialed me up a voice-mail: “I read your Bahá’í piece. Interesting. But I have a question about one of the quotations from Bahá’u’lláh. Could you please say a little more about the one that goes: ‘The establishment of peace is unachievable save through the power of the Word of God.’?”

I hit the Books. Here is some more. Hang on to your hats. From the Bahá’í Writings:

“The world is in travail, and its agitation waxeth day by day.”

“Naught but the celestial potency of the Word of God, which ruleth and transcendeth the realities of all things, is capable of harmonizing the divergent thoughts, sentiments, ideas and convictions of the children of men.”

“The vitality of men’s belief in God is dying out in every land; nothing short of His wholesome medicine can ever restore it. The corrosion of ungodliness is eating into the vitals of human society; what else but the Elixir of His potent Revelation can cleanse and revive it.”

“Witness how the world is being afflicted with a fresh calamity every day. Its tribulation is continually deepening… Its sickness is approaching the stage of utter hopelessness, inasmuch as the true Physician is debarred from administering the remedy, whilst unskilled practitioners are regarded with favor, and are accorded full freedom to act.”

“The source of all good is trust in God, submission unto His command, and contentment with His holy will and pleasure.”

“Rely upon God, thy God and the Lord of thy fathers. For the people are wandering in the paths of delusion, bereft of discernment to see God with their own eyes, or hear His Melody with their own ears. Thus have We found them, as thou also dost witness.”

“Help us then to quaff, O My God, from the fingers of mercy the living waters of loving-kindness.”

“For a period of 6,000 years history informs us about the world of humanity. During these 6,000 years the world of humanity has not been free from war, strife, murder and bloodthirstiness. In every period war has been waged in one country or another and that war was due to either religious prejudice, racial prejudice, political prejudice or patriotic prejudice. It has therefore been ascertained and proved that all prejudices are destructive of the human edifice. As long as these prejudices persist, the struggle for existence must remain dominant, and bloodthirstiness and rapacity continue. Therefore, even as it was the case in the past, the world of humanity cannot be saved from the darkness of nature and cannot attain illumination except through the abandonment of prejudices and the acquisition of the morals of the Kingdom.”

In 1844, the Bahá’í Revelation “…breathed a new life into the body of mankind, and infused a new spirit into the whole creation. It is for this reason that the world hath been moved to its depths, and the hearts and consciences of men been quickened.”

For world peace, in the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, “…the foundations of such a justice have been laid as no mind hath, from the beginning of creation, conceived.”

We have been given the exact divine working plan for world peace, it is here for your inspection, just let me know. Anytime. Come see it. Or, I’ll mail it to you. Peruse it and be astonished! Come be a Bahá’í and help us nurture it!

You know, if we followed just one of the teachings of Jesus Christ: to love one another, this whole issue would be moot. We are just slow learners. This needn’t be complicated!

“The trials which beset our every step, all our sorrow, pain, shame and grief, are born of the world of matter; whereas the spiritual kingdom never causes sadness. A man living with his thoughts in this kingdom knows perpetual joy. The ills all flesh is heir to do not pass him by, but they only touch the surface of his life, the depths are calm and serene.”

Bahá’u’lláh states:

“The All-Knowing Physician hath his finger on the pulse of mankind. He perceiveth the disease, and prescribeth, in His unerring wisdom, the remedy… We can well perceive how the whole human race is encompassed with great, with incalculable afflictions. We see it languishing on its bed of sickness, sore tried and disillusioned. They that are intoxicated by self-conceit have interposed themselves between it and the Divine and infallible Physician. Witness how they have entangled all men, themselves included, in the mesh of their devices. They can neither discover the cause of the disease nor have they any knowledge of the remedy… O ye who are as dead! The Hand of Divine bounty proferreth unto you the Water of Life. Hasten and drink your fill.”

Thank you for reading! In closing, a prayer for guidance and unity:

“O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose. May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law. Help them, O God, in their endeavour, and grant them strength to serve Thee. O God, leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge and cheer their hearts by Thy love. Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.”
