Memorial Day isn't the only day citizens of Mukilteo can pay tribute to the men and women who served in the U.S. military.
The Mukilteo Historical Society and the city of Mukilteo are hosting a Veteran's Service and Pioneer Cemetery Remembrance from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 30, formerly Decoration Day, at the Mukilteo Pioneer Cemetery to celebrate U.S. veterans and Mukilteo history.
In 1865, Congress declared May 30 Decoration Day, a national holiday to honor those who died while serving the nation. In 1971, the holiday was renamed Memorial Day and moved to the last Monday in May to give workers a three-day weekend.
