Run-A-Muk kicks off Lighthouse Fest Aug. 24

Posted

One of the most popular events of the year is back.

The annual Run-A-Muk 5K/10K kicks off the 2024 Lighthouse Festival Saturday, Aug. 24.

Runners and walkers will begin their trek around Mukilteo near the Rosehill Community Center. Participants can sleep in a few extra minutes as the new start time is 9 a.m.

A free kids dash is at 8:40 a.m. Register online or during bib pickup.

The start/finish line and all activities are in the upper parking lot at Rosehill. The course features no ferry lane or boat launch crossings this year.

The revised course takes runners toward Totem Park with a view of the Mukilteo Lighthouse in the distance. After a couple of blocks on Mukilteo Speedway, the course heads toward First Street towards Edgewater Park. Runners will cross the railroad tracks to Mukilteo Lane, which will be closed to vehicle traffic. Participants will head back to Rosehill up a short hill and past several striking homes in Old Town.

There will be plenty of signs and volunteers to direct runners on the correct route.

The route does cross railroad tracks at mile 1.7 and 4.8 (10K only). Organizers do not expect any train activity, but course marshals will be posted at crossing just in case. If a train approaches, runners will be asked to hold until it is safe to cross.

Race day bib pickup near the front door at Rosehill is from 7:15-8:30 a.m. Also available at that time are shirt sales and exchange (as supplies permit); event changes at the timing tent by the start/finish arch; and late registrations if space permits.

Pets are not allowed at the event. Only single strollers are allowed due to course restrictions. The use of personal music devices is discouraged.

Registration fees are $40 (adults 19-64), $35 (student 7-18; senior 65 and older) for 5K and $45 (adults 19-64), $40 (student 7-18; senior 65 and older) for 10K. Discounts are available for more than four family or team members. Registration includes finishers medal and postrace snacks.

The 5K awards are at 9:45 a.m. and 10K awards follow at 10:45 a.m.
