It’s a wrap: Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival 2024

Posted

If the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival marks the unofficial end to summer and the beginning of fall, residents and visitors made sure the change of season was a memorable one.

The three-day festival at Lighthouse Park featured perfect summer weather – not too hot, not too much sun – and a wide range of family fun.

The Mukilteo Mukfest Pirates of the Salish Sea made a big splash Sept. 6 by arriving in their Pirate ship, the MYT Muk. After a few minutes, George Safadago (Cap’n Shipwreck) decided to take the land/water vehicle for a quick spin on Possession Sound before returning to land to kick off the festival with the annual cannon blasts.

The highlight of Saturday, at least for the kids, was the first-ever appearance of the Bubble Man, Garry Golightly, who entertained the young and the young at heart with a wide array of bubbles – big and small. It was hard to tell who was having more fun – the Bubble Man or the kids.

Music fans were able to get the fix of rock and roll on the main stage with performances by Jackie and the Holograms, SEED, and the Machine. Most of the audience got their daily steps in as the bands encouraged people to get up out of their seats and dance.

The night was capped by another spectacular fireworks show over Possession Sound.

Parents and kids had plenty of fun activities to choose from on the final day of the festival. Josiah Bogle and the Kamiak Barbershop group sang on the main stage. Many youngsters headed to the bumper ball arena to enjoy a soccer-inspired game where players slide into a clear plastic ball and run into each other.

Kids wrapped up the day and the festival by heading to the volleyball area for a foam party. Some of the youngsters were joined by their parents as they frolicked in the nontoxic suds.

Festival fans take note. The 2025 festival is only 362 days away.
