Keeping cool this summer could just mean staying wet at one of several water access parks in the Snohomish County Parks & Recreation system.
Snohomish County Parks & Recreation offers many opportunities for fun in the sun and water, including the ever popular splash park at Willis Tucker Community Park or McCollum Park’s outdoor pool.
Children can splash and play alone or with parents at the spray park. Open swimming or swim lessons are both available at McCollum Park, where lifeguards are always on duty.
Parks also boasts access to beautiful lakes, rivers and salt water for recreation including swimming, fishing, boating and camping.
Among the opportunities are Kayak Point Park (salt water), Martha Lake County Park (lakefront access) and River Meadows Community Park (riverfront).
Additional safety precautions are needed at each of the systems’ lakefront, riverfront and saltwater parks. Lifeguards are not on duty, and lakes and rivers are still cold enough to cause hypothermia, even in summer and among the strongest swimmers.
Ways to stay safe include wearing a life jacket, avoiding swimming or boating in high running water, and checking water conditions prior to your visit. Never dive or jump into unfamiliar or shallow water.
