MYSC soccer event rocks! - Sunday, May 2 approximately 200 youth and parents participated in the first MYSC Spring Kickoff Event.  Seattle Sounders FC players Roger Levesque and Tyson Wahl signed autographs and premier coaches from Evergreen/Rush Premier Soccer Club led various skills stations.

Lots of used equipment was swapped and local MYSC soccer player Emma Cleland won the drawing for four Sounder tickets.  To top the afternoon off, Levesque agreed to climb onto the dunk tank.  After several rounds of unsuccessful shots, one finally hit the mark and he took a polar bear plunge.

Thanks to the Sounders, Evergreen/Rush and MYSC for this successful event!

Kamiak Knights win the cup - It took 80 minutes of regular play, 10 minutes of sudden-death overtime and 12 penalty kicks before Kamiak finally won the annual Mukilteo Cup soccer game.  The scrappy match saw Mariner twice come from behind to tie before Kamiak keeper Caleb Smith denied Mariner's last penalty shot, ending the game.  Spirited fans from both schools filled the bleachers, adding energy to the back and forth action on the field.  Both teams earned a berth in the district playoffs – good luck Marauders and Knights!

Local soccer mom wins national award - Tammy Davis earned the title of Ultimate Soccer Mom, in a national contest sponsored by Cuties(r) California Citrus.  Davis’s son plays for the Evergreen/Washington Rush U-13 team. Joy Fawsett of the National Soccer Hall of Fame presented the award. The press release reads in part:

After meeting dedicated parents across the country, devoted Northwest mother Tammy Davis has been selected as the Cuties Ultimate Soccer Mom! Tammy has balanced carpooling, fundraising and managing teams while working fulltime for the past 20 years.

She is not only lauded by fellow parents on her team for her management and organizational skills, but has gone above and beyond by organizing a club-wide uniform recycling program to help players who can't afford uniforms, coordinating fundraisers to ensure that anyone is able to play and sending older equipment overseas to less fortunate children abroad.

Congratulations, Tammy!
