Mariner High School junior Raeann Johns was recently featured in a newsletter sent to coaches, athletes, friends, families and supporters of Special Olympics throughout Washington state.
Johns started volunteering for Special Olympics a year ago and has become a leader in organizing student volunteers to help at Special Olympics competitions. She has put up posters, handed out flyers, planned youth events and helped create a fan base for Special Olympics in the Northwest Region.
She also helped fill a school bus with volunteers to help out at the Spring Sports Festival and again for the bowling tournament in Lynnwood.
Her goal for this year is to fill two school buses with volunteers as part of what she is calling the “Pack the Bus” campaign.
