Students from the Mukilteo School District swept all three high school awards in the annual Prodigies for Peace essay and art contest, which helps students and adults draw connections between the people and events that shaped the civil rights movement and the social issues that influence our lives today.
Sharing first place in the high school category of the essay contest were Faith Dawson and LaVendrick Smith of Mariner, taking second place were Charlotte Horton of Kamiak and Weyni Haddis of Mariner, and placing third were Jack Malloy and Dominik Smith, both of Kamiak.
Two Discovery Elementary students, Gabriel Sepulveda and Tony MacArthur, also shared third place honors in the 3rd through 5th grade category, and Dorothy Song of Mariner won first place in the art contest.
