
Ruth Anwei Tvedt Guyot passed from this life peacefully on August 2nd. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born Anwei Tvedt in Sinyang, Honan Province, China, on January 26, 1931, the daughter of Lutheran missionaries. She and her family returned to the United States and settled in Minnesota where she spent her early life. She attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where she met and married the father of her twelve children.
An avid grandmother, gardener, musician and artist, she is remembered for her determination, prodigious intellect, her unique sense of humor and capacity for compassion and generosity toward others. A voracious reader, she was famously unbeatable in Scrabble. She cherished her parish family at St. Albans Episcopal Church.
Ruth is survived by her sons Steve, Charlie, Bob and Joe, her daughters Julie, Maria, Liz, Lily, Alice and Sarah, and her beloved grandchildren Matt, Laura, Alex, Steve, Valerie, Derek, Sophia, Clara, Cecelia, and Emmett. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jackie and Daniel.
A memorial will be held on August 14, 2009, at 2pm at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 21405 82nd Pl W, Edmonds, Washington, 98026.
